1.2 Too Much Awkwardness

I wake up and take a shower with bleary eyes. When I get to the kitchen after relaxing in the hot water, I treat myself to a morning cigarette. That's when I see Jun sitting on my couch, reading a book. Fuck. I thought she left last night! I sigh inwardly as I realize what I have to do. "Hey Jun, I'm heading out because I have to go to work. Sorry if this ruins your plans or anything." I tell her hesitantly. I hate when they get attached. "Oh, sure! Give me a call after though, if you're free." She smiles at me. Oh, yeah. I'll definitely be calling you. I wait for her to get ready to go and then leave, caller her an obligatory cab.
Work ends and as I drive home, I resolve to call Jun and tell her what's up. I can't have her thinking this is more than it is. I dial and put the phone up to my ear. She picks up on the third tone. "Hey!" She sounds excited. shit. "Hey, Jun. It's me. Listen, I need to--" she cuts me off. "Look, I'm right around the corner, I'm gonna swing by your apartment so we can talk in person." Argh. "Alright, see you in a few."
She walks around the corner and grins. I deflate a little bit. "Hey Jun, so I was thinking, and I don't think I'm ready for a commitment. If you just wanna chill and be friends, though, that's cool with me." I wait for the coming shit storm.
"What the fuck, Bryce?!" She yells. "I had sex with you last night! Doesn't that mean anything to you?" I can't see her eyes through those weird-ass glasses, but man, if looks could kill, I'm sure I'd be six feet under by now. "Hey, hey! I never told you I wanted a girlfriend, I thought you knew what you were getting into. I don't do girlfriends. That's not me." Wow, that was lame.
"You really have some issues, Mr. Bryce Reed." She spits at the ground. "I sure hope I don't see you around again." Okay, now I'm pissed. I run my hand through my hair and back off. I could really use a fucking cigarette. "Alright. Fine. Bye." I walk away. "You come the fuck back here, Reed!" I hear her voice behind me and I jolt.
Fuck, this bitch is crazy! I think as I start running. I used to run full time, so I get ahead of her easily, leaving her blocks behind. Just to make sure I lost her, though, I duck inside the first apartment building I see.
The Simset. I guess it'll do. I don't really care where I go, as long as it's far away from this girl.
I frantically buzz all the buttons, hoping someone will let me up. I only have a couple minutes before she comes in, looking for me. She was hot on my tracks. Someone finally buzzes me in.
I jump inside the elevator. I press the fourth floor button, because that's the floor of the person who rang me in. As soon as the doors open again, I run to 402 (the one that buzzed me in) and close the door behind me, quickly running into another room in the apartment.
Ah, shit. There's a girl sleeping in a bed. I ran into some poor girl's bedroom. She must have buzzed me in and then immediately returned to sleep. I don't know why she would do that, but whatever. It works for me. I turn to leave her room and then I hear her stir.
"Yo!" I freeze. "What the fuck, man? Who are you?" A scratchy female voice says from behind me.
I turn and hastily paste a bashful smile on my face. "I'm Bryce, Bryce Reed." Oh, shit. She's gorgeous. I fumble accidentally. "I-I was just l-looking for a place to hide from uh...a crazy ex." You are FLOUNDERING, bro. "You know how them girls are!" No, she doesn't know how them girls are. You're a dumbass. She gets out of bed. She's wearing a little sleeping dress that has some nice lace on it. I can dig it. She gives me a long, hard look.
She suddenly bursts into a smile. "You're kinda weird, Bryce. That's cool, though. I've had crazy exes before that have made me do crazy things. They suck. I understand. I'm not the type of girl to get batshit crazy over something stupid, and this is something pretty stupid. I'll let you hide out for a few minutes, but then you gotta go, bro. I'm trying to catch some Z's." She talks cool. She's pretty laidback, which I appreciate. She'd make a hell of a wingman. I thank her and leave her room. I wait for a few minutes until I think the coast is clear, and then I walk back to my apartment. I can't get that weird ginger girl out of my head on the walk home as I smoke my last cigarette walking. 'Til next time.

  1. LOL! That girl whose apartment he's hiding out in is like me! I've had girls go shit crazy on me for stupid crap, and I hate it.
Especially, duh, one night stands, they exist, get over it, Jun. Seriously. :D Nice chapter.
